Growler Haus Bids Farewell After 14 Years in Anderson

Growler Haus, a beloved craft beer bar in downtown Anderson, will close permanently on June 11 after more than a decade of serving the community.

Since opening at 313 N Main Street in 2012, the bar has been a local staple for craft brews, memorable gatherings, and friendly faces.

Management cited overwhelming insurance costs—rising to $30,000 despite no claims in 14 years—as the main factor behind the difficult decision.

This marks the final Upstate location to close, following the West Greenville site’s shutdown in December 2023.

Many regulars cherish the memories, recalling the warm ambiance, welcoming staff, and vibrant community atmosphere.

Anderson residents are invited for a farewell celebration on the last day, as the town reflects on the crucial role local businesses play and the economic hurdles they often face.

Growler Haus’ legacy will live on in the hearts of its loyal patrons.

Electrolux Announces 1,255 Layoffs in Anderson Amid Joint Venture with Midea Group

Electrolux will lay off 1,255 workers at its Anderson County plant beginning in July 2026, impacting a site that’s anchored the local economy since 1988.

The move follows a new joint venture with China’s Midea Group that will shift the plant’s focus from refrigerator manufacturing to washers and dryers, with retooled operations set to start in early 2027.

Electrolux says this partnership aims to boost growth and spur innovation in North America, projecting 1,200 new skilled jobs at the plant and an additional 1,800 jobs locally—potentially injecting nearly $3 billion into South Carolina’s economy.

County Manager Rusty Burns acknowledged the hardship but emphasized the area’s job opportunities and Electrolux’s separation package, which includes pay and benefits tied to years of service.

Meanwhile, Signature Foods USA announced a separate $11.5 million investment near Easley, bringing 202 jobs producing high-quality dips and spreads.

Local leaders remain hopeful about Anderson County’s resilience.
